When the Dead Still Call novel Chapter 281

Chapter 281 The One Who Really Knows

Gianna had come by a few times before, but she only asked surface–level questions and never noticed the real problems.

They had tried bringing these issues up to her before, but she always brushed them off with a few vague comments, dodging the point entirely.

She never actually got to the root of anything.

“I already knew about these problems,” Amelia said calmly. “So I made a special solution just for this type of herb and these foreign pests.”

As she spoke, Amelia pulled out a bottle of her custom–made formula and gently sprayed it over the herb’s leaves.

Her movements were soft and even, the mist covering every leaf in a fine, uniform layer.

“Ms. Amelia, what’s in your solution?” one of the professors asked curiously.

Amelia smiled and replied, “I created this natural formula based on the properties of the herbs and the behavior of these pests.

“Don’t worry, it won’t harm the plants. It’s made from a blend of herbal extracts and works effectively to control and kill the bugs.”

The professors nodded in approval, clearly impressed by her expertise and her steady, skilled hands.

Watching all this, Gianna felt increasingly uncomfortable. She could tell she was being completely sidelined while everyone focused on Amelia.

“Amelia, did you just overhear me talking about the pests and then ask someone to make this solution?

She said it deliberately, trying to twist the story.

She wanted everyone to think Amelia only came up with the idea after she mentioned the bugs -and that Amelia had just found someone else to do the work while taking the credit.

But Amelia saw right through her and fired back without hesitation.

“If I overheard you and still managed to fix the problem, that just proves I’m better than you. You heard about it first and did nothing.

“Oh, wait, maybe you knew but couldn’t do anything about it. You couldn’t find anyone to make

the solution, so now you’re just bitter and jealous.”

Her words hit Gianna right where it hurt. Her face flushed red with embarrassment.

That infuriating woman–how could she expose her so bluntly in front of everyone?

“Amelia, don’t be so harsh,” Miguel cut in. “Gianna just made a casual comment. She didn’t mean anything by it.

“You don’t have to twist her words,” he added, trying to sound calm.

Gianna gave him a pleading look, eyes full of grievance. Miguel hadn’t planned to speak up, but her expression made him cave in.

Unfortunately, as soon as he did, the others turned on him.

“Mr. Miguel, that’s not right,” one professor said. “Ms. Amelia’s right–Ms. Gianna hasn’t been addressing the real issues at all.”

“Yeah, you’re out of line. I think Ms. Gianna’s done well enough getting this far. She’s ambitious, sure, but she’s no expert.”

“You’re not in this field, Mr. Miguel. Maybe you should sit this one out.”
