When the Dead Still Call novel Chapter 325

Chapter 325 Emery’s Fear

Back then, Emery thought it was normal to get scared by horror movies, so she didn’t make a big deal out of it.

She had even seen Gianna peel an apple herself and then feed it straight to her brothers.

At that time, Emery thought they were still kids in school. She figured it was just siblings being close and

didn’t think too much about it.

But one thing was always the same-Gianna was the one who took the lead. Even now, she still does.

Just like Marcelo had said, it was Emery’s fault for not stopping it. Gianna liked to cling to him and always

made the first move.

They were siblings-so why didn’t Amelia ever do that?

When Amelia was little, she and her brothers were close too, always sticking together. But that was when they were toddlers.

Once they got older and went to grade school, they stayed close, but they didn’t act the same way.

Especially after Amelia had left home and then came back as a grown adult.

When she returned, she still treated her brothers kindly and warmly.

But she kept clear boundaries. Not because she didn’t like them, but because she knew boys and girls have limits.

Even if they were family.

As for why their relationships grew worse over time, and why even their bond started to weaken… that thought alone was terrifying.

The more she tried to figure it out, the more confused and scared she became.

She was afraid that it might really be what she was thinking, and she wouldn’t know what to do.

At that moment, she instinctively wanted to call her husband, just to talk about it.

She picked up her phone and saw the group chat had hundreds of new messages.

“Mrs. Nygard, is it true what people are saying online? What’s happening with your adopted daughter and your sons?”

“Emery, you really need to control that adopted girl, or this is going to get out of hand.”

“Wow, Mrs. Nygard, I thought everything at the Nygards’ was perfect. Didn’t expect a scandal like this.”

“Does Mr. Nygard know? He’s probably going to be so mad when he finds out, right?”

“Come on, how could he get mad at his wife? Aren’t you two the perfect couple? Total role models.”

Emery skimmed the messages. They were all about the Nygards.

Some people seemed genuinely worried. Most were just making nasty comments to annoy her.

She was done reading.

Born into wealth and married to a good man, Emery had never been treated with so much mockery and

shame.

Right now, she felt trapped by her anger and sadness.

She called Raymond, but he didn’t answer. That made her even more upset.

Emery changed her clothes and got ready to go out to clear her mind. If she didn’t, she felt like she might explode.

She left like she usually did and went to her usual quiet spots.

She used to love going to the coffee shop that other socialites often visited, but now she didn’t feel like going anymore. Going there just meant asking to be miserable.

So she chose a calm, quiet place instead.

Emery loved cake, but she usually tried to eat less so she wouldn’t gain weight. Today, though, she ordered two slices. Whatever-she was going to enjoy herself.

After ordering, she picked up her phone and sent a message to Raymond.

“Honey, have you seen what’s happening with Gianna?

“What do you think we should do about it?”

Whenever something went wrong, Emery always asked Raymond for advice.

He used to be patient and always gave her calm, smart answers.

But this time, he didn’t reply right away. When his message finally showed up, it was more like a lecture than help.

“I know what’s going on. I’m already talking to Mom and trying to explain things.

“You’ve always been in charge of the kids. You can’t even handle that properly, and now you have the nerve to ask me what to do?”

Seeing the messages, Emery was furious.
