When the Dead Still Call novel Chapter 362

**Chapter 362: Watch Out**

In a small, dilapidated town like this one, Amelia found herself in desperate need of that trike. The battered vehicle was more than just a means of transportation; it was her lifeline.

Riding it would certainly get her to Josie much faster than trudging along on foot. The thought of walking filled her with unease—what if she encountered trouble before she even reached her friend? The very idea sent a shiver down her spine.

With a flicker of determination, Amelia activated her equipment once more, tuning into the feeble signal that had become her guide. She pinpointed Josie’s exact location, her heart racing with every second that passed. Following the trail she had pieced together, it became clear that Josie had been dragged to some forsaken ruins at the outskirts of town.

The sight that greeted her was unsettling. An old, abandoned factory loomed ahead, its presence both eerie and foreboding. It was a shell of its former self—silent, desolate, and cloaked in an unsettling stillness.

Amelia parked the trike a short distance away, mindful of the noise it made as she cut the engine. She needed to remain undetected. As she stepped into the ruins, her senses heightened, she moved cautiously, her eyes scanning every shadowy corner for any signs of danger.

The air was thick with the stench of decay, a musty odor that clung to her nostrils. Broken machinery lay strewn about, and rusted pipes jutted out like skeletal fingers reaching for the sky. Her heart raced with anxiety. What condition was Josie in? Was she injured?

Then, piercing through the silence, she heard it—a faint, desperate cry for help that sent a jolt of adrenaline coursing through her veins.

Amelia quickened her pace, urgency propelling her forward. As she rounded a collapsed workshop, relief washed over her when she spotted Josie tied to a pillar. A rag was stuffed into her mouth, and her wide eyes shimmered with a mixture of fear and hope.

The moment their eyes met, Josie’s face lit up, tears brimming in her eyes.

“Amelia!” she managed to gasp, her voice muffled but filled with unmistakable relief.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Amelia rushed to her side. She swiftly yanked off the ropes binding Josie and pulled out the rag, her heart pounding as she assessed her friend’s condition.

“Josie, are you alright? What happened? How did they bring you to a place like this?”

Amelia’s words tumbled out as she examined Josie for injuries, her hands gentle yet firm. Thankfully, Josie seemed to have escaped with only minor scrapes—likely the result of her struggles during the abduction.
