Clifford’s face turned pale.

Amelia was terrifying as much as a witch.

She was no longer the Amelia from before.

Now she seemed like a different person, way more dangerous and threatening.

“Get lost.” Amelia shoved him away with disgust. She took a disinfectant wipe from a waiter and cleaned her hands.

Jeremy walked at her side. Together they strode out, leaving everyone staring in shock.

Jeremy had planned to play the hero, to show off his strength. But Amelia said just a few words,

and that man looked like he had seen death.

Jeremy swelled with pride. No wonder she was the one he had chosen. Her combat skill was unmatched.

She was exactly the kind of partner he wanted by his side. Someone who could face storms with him.

Clifford and the others just stood there, frozen in place. The shock still hadn’t worn off, and their faces looked awful.

Amelia shot him a sideways glance. “Why? Does Mr. Curran want to try? I know plenty of pressure points. Some could make a man impotent.”

Jeremy’s voice dropped low. “I trust you wouldn’t joke about your future happiness.

Amelia’s ears flushed red. “What nonsense are you saying? What does my future have to do with you?

Jeremy only smiled and said nothing.

“Amelia, come quick! Something happened to Mom.” Demi’s voice broke with sobs. “She answered a call, and then she collapsed.”

Amelia’s chest tightened. How could this happen?

Thea had been doing better. Something must have shocked her.

Amelia’s face was drained of color. Her phone almost slipped from her hand. “Don’t panic, I’m coming now.”

After ending the call, she gave Jeremy an address.

Jeremy didn’t waste a second. He started the car and it shot forward like an arrow, racing toward the Pearson residence.

Jeremy glanced at Amelia. Her face was grim.

She never showed emotion, unless it was about family.

“Don’t worry,” Jeremy said softly. “I’ve got you.”

Amelia nodded. Her chest felt heavy.
