Chapter 9: Finally Found a Way to Control Her
When Gianna returned home, it seemed she had caught a nasty cold, as by that very night, a high fever took hold of her. Her entire body felt like it was on fire, and she babbled incoherently, lost in a feverish haze.
The Nygard family had been somewhat annoyed by the recent incident involving her, but seeing Gianna so unwell stirred a wave of sympathy among them. In the end, they decided to let the matter drop, choosing not to stir up more trouble.

Gianna had intended to ensnare Amelia in a trap, yet ironically, she only managed to bring misfortune upon herself. Her anger simmered fiercely, especially upon discovering that Amelia had somehow managed to grow close to Jeremy. That revelation ignited a deeper jealousy within her.
She couldn’t fathom how that wretched Amelia had managed to catch such luck.
Meanwhile, in the spacious living room, the Nygards gathered, voices low but tense as they discussed the situation.
Maxwell grumbled, “Amelia really crossed the line this time, pushing Gianna into the pool like that. She’s completely out of control.”
Emery frowned, adding, “And now she’s cozying up to Jeremy, thinking she has some powerful protector behind her.”
Marcelo’s tone was icy as he spoke, “Jeremy’s probably just toying with her. There’s no way he’s serious about Amelia.”
Men often understood each other’s intentions better than anyone else.
Considering Jeremy’s status and wealth, he could have any woman he desired.
Miguel reminded them cautiously, “But don’t forget, that brat still holds 30% of the company’s shares. If she sells those to Jeremy, then our company…” He trailed off, but the weight of his words was clear as everyone’s eyes widened in alarm.
None of them had considered that possibility before.
This was a serious threat.
Raymond slammed his fist on the table, voice booming, “Find out where that brat is living. Bring her back here, by force if necessary.”
“Dad, calm down. I’ve already sent someone to check,” Marcelo replied, his tone steady.
Just then, his assistant sent over Amelia’s address.
Marcelo studied the message and frowned deeply.
“Cloudspire Estate. That’s one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the city. Only the ultra-rich or those with powerful connections can afford to live there. Even the Nygards would need serious influence to buy a home in that area.
How on earth did Amelia afford such a place?
Is Maxwell right? Does she really have a sugar daddy?
And could that person be Jeremy?”
He passed the address around, and a heavy silence settled over the room.
Raymond’s face flushed with fury. “Call her back immediately. She’s nothing but a disgrace to this family!”
At that moment, Gianna descended the stairs. She had overheard every word from upstairs.
Approaching quietly, she spoke softly, “I saw Amelia at the party. I tried to convince her to come home so she wouldn’t embarrass us anymore, but she refused. Maybe Marcelo showing her the company contract and making her sign it would be the only way to get her back.”
Her words struck Marcelo like a sudden realization.

Chapter 9: Finally Found a Way to Control Her
The thought hit him hard. How could he have forgotten such a crucial detail?

When Gianna graduated, she had dreamed of stardom, longing to become a celebrity. Marcelo, ever the devoted brother, had started an entertainment company and made Gianna their first female artist.
At that time, Amelia had just returned after years of absence. Marcelo didn’t want to appear biased, hoping the sisters would support one another, so he signed Amelia on as well.
But all the prime opportunities went to Gianna, who became a moderately famous C-list actress.
Amelia was left with only the roles Gianna rejected.
Having been away for so long, Amelia craved family connection. Upon her return, she worked tirelessly to please everyone, never refusing any request, hiding her true talents, and doing whatever it took to keep the family happy.
She believed that since they were family, there was no reason to quarrel.
Yet none of this earned her any appreciation from the Nygards.
Marcelo even made her sign a contract. Initially, it was just a formality, but over time, it transformed into the perfect instrument to control her.
Marcelo’s gaze hardened. “Gianna’s right. That contract is still in our hands. She signed a ten-year agreement with a penalty clause of 500 million if she breaks it. Unless Jeremy is willing to pay that amount, she can’t leave this family. She’ll have to obey the company’s orders and generate income for us.”
