Amelia walked into Nygard Group’s entertainment company and headed straight for Maxwell’s office.

“Do you even realize what time it is? You’re still under contract here, and this is when you decide to show up?”

Maxwell glared at Amelia, furious that she waltzed in like she hadn’t ignored his calls earlier.

He was both embarrassed and angry.

“Just get to the point,” Amelia said, already irritated.

“Don’t forget, you signed with my company. You do what I tell you.” Maxwell repeated the same tired line again.

He’d said it so many times it made her sick.

“And?” Amelia shot back with a smirk.

His tone made it sound like signing a contract meant selling her soul.

“I also registered Gianna for the Popular Model Contest, and you’re going with her. That way, you can look out for each other. Gianna’s got amazing modeling skills, and she even spoke up for you. That’s why I arranged for you to join her.

“I’ll be doing her styling and makeup personally. She’ll shine at this competition. All you need to do is show up and not drag her down.”

Maxwell rattled off one praise after another for Gianna, acting like Amelia should be grateful just to stand in her shadow.

But all he really wanted was to make her play second fiddle to Gianna, to stir up some buzz and attention for her.

“Save it. I don’t need Gianna doing me any favors. I’m not going with her.”

Maxwell’s little plan hadn’t even included her opinion.

His face turned dark, and his voice dropped hard:

“Amelia, you’re being really ungrateful. This is the company’s decision–you have to go.

“What choice do you have? Without us, you’re nothing. If you cooperate, you’ll get better resources later.”
