When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 32

They looked ready to lunge forward, but Henrietta held them back. The scene on stage was now truly something to behold.

The Coleman family stood there in awkward silence. Jolie feebly disciplined her son, “Why did you pinch your auntie?”

Matteo almost fainted from rage. You don't fear a god-like opponent, but you do fear incompetent fools for allies. If it weren’t for the crowd, he would have thrashed the little brat himself! He'd just lost all moral high ground.

The guests erupted in a fresh wave of whispers. “Wow, that kid’s got some nerve!”

“So manipulative at such a young age.”

“It's a good thing Ms. Sargent broke up with him. Who would want a nephew like that? You'd never have a moment's peace.”

Pamela desperately tried to explain. “No, that’s not it. He’s just a child, he doesn’t know any better. He didn’t mean it! He was just so emotional that he accidentally grabbed Henrietta too hard.”

“Henrietta,” Matteo added, “Jayden is only five. He really didn’t mean any harm. I promise, I’ll punish him severely later.”

Henrietta looked at him, then turned her gaze to the guests. “Everyone has freedom of choice. Does a breakup really need a reason? But if you insist on one, then fine. Mr. Coleman, from midnight until this very moment, have you wished me a happy birthday even once? Sincerity is in the details. Do you truly have me in your heart?”

“I told Mr. Coleman we were through before this party even began. This is simply my birthday celebration. For those who wish to stay, please enjoy the food and drinks. If you’d rather not, you’re free to leave.”

With that, Henrietta turned and walked off the stage, crisp and decisive. She wouldn't waste another second arguing with them.

Matteo was left standing there, stunned, along with the wailing trio of Pamela, Jolie, and the little brat.
