"That's how you look your best! Come on, pick one."
"No, really," Henrietta insisted. "I'd rather just wear something casual."
In the end, Sabrina couldn't persuade her and had to relent.
What Henrietta didn't expect was that their date was for lunch, not dinner, because Yosef had to leave again in the afternoon. Sabrina explained that he was flying in that morning specifically for their meal and had a flight out around five or six in the evening.
Henrietta was surprised. "His schedule is that tight?"
"He's running a global empire, of course he's busy," Sabrina said. "Zelina told me he has several economic summits overseas and will be swamped for the next six months. When he heard you agreed to meet, he made a special trip back just to have lunch with you. Henrietta, you need to be understanding of how busy he is. Poor Yosef is thirty-one and doesn't even have a wife to look after him."
Henrietta was speechless. Her mother had clearly been won over.
"Mom, I'm sure he has plenty of people looking after him. He's hardly 'poor'."
"That's not the same as having a wife," Sabrina countered.
"Mom, let's not get ahead of ourselves. It would be embarrassing if this date goes nowhere."
"It won't," Sabrina said confidently. "Yosef is a wonderful young man. As long as you aren't too picky, everything will be fine. Besides, if you marry him, it would be the best thing for the Sargent Group."
Her mother's last sentence was delivered with a heavy weight. As a mother, she hated to pressure her daughter's marriage with business concerns, but with Henrietta as the sole heir, some things simply had to be considered.
"I understand, Mom," Henrietta nodded. "We'll see how it goes."
Sabrina gently stroked her hair and said no more.
