When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 80

She had learned her lesson with Joaquin. He had seemed perfectly normal at first, too. You couldn't judge a person based on a first impression.

After all, if Joaquin was that arrogant and aggressive, who was to say Yosef wouldn't be worse? His status and wealth dwarfed Joaquin's. It was entirely possible that his true colors would show once they started talking.

After the disastrous date with Joaquin, Henrietta was far more cautious. Besides, she had lost all hope in romance anyway. Since she had to accept an arranged marriage, she was simply looking for a suitable business ally.

Charlotte seemed to realize that the topic of Joaquin made Winona uncomfortable and quickly changed her tune. [Right, right. Well, you'll know more after your lunch!]

Henrietta replied: [Yep. Talk later.]

Winona sent a sticker: [Waiting for good news!]

Henrietta sent one back: [Okay!]

She closed WhatsApp just as an incoming call from an unknown number appeared on her screen. She answered it. "Hello?"

A man's voice on the other end said, "It's your husband."

Henrietta froze for a second, then her blood boiled. "Watch your mouth, Mr. Leland!"

Joaquin laughed, but his laughter was abruptly cut off as the line went dead. His smile vanished.

Henrietta, her face a mask of cold fury, immediately blocked the number. The psychopath! She deeply regretted ever agreeing to meet him, only to attract a relentless lunatic.

When Joaquin tried to call back and discovered he had been blocked, his expression darkened. The Sargent heiress had some nerve. Did she really think she could marry Yosef? He, Joaquin, had issues with her romantic history—years spent with that gold digger, who had probably slept with her. Did she think Yosef wouldn't care? She was far too naive about men!
