Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 103

He was parked in a flashy, hot pink Ferrari—the kind of car girls would love. Tiffany leaned out of the passenger window, her smile freezing for a second when she saw Naomi before she plastered it back on. "Naomi, over here!"

Naomi frowned, having no idea what kind of stunt the two of them were pulling now.

"Grab a cab and follow us."

With that, Zebulon got back in the car, ready to drive off.

Naomi let out a laugh of pure disbelief.

She walked directly in front of the Ferrari, using her body to block its path.

Zebulon was about to hit the gas when he saw someone appear in front of the hood. His heart leaped and he instinctively slammed on the brake.

Realizing he hadn't even started the car, Zebulon cursed under his breath, flung the door open, and stormed towards her. "Naomi, have you lost your mind?"

Naomi looked at him coolly. For a strange moment, Zebulon saw a look of deadened resignation on her face, as if her heart had turned to ash.

Startled, he looked down to get a better view, but she had already lowered her head. Her voice was level, carrying a complex mix of calm and roiling undercurrents. "I called out to you, but you were just going to drive away without a word."

Zebulon clicked his tongue impatiently.

"Just spit it out, what do you want?"

Naomi took a deep breath, telling herself to stay calm.

She couldn't completely burn her bridges with him yet, or things with her family would become unbearable.

So, she said softly, "I have to go to work. I don't have time to go with you."

"You two have fun."

As Naomi turned to leave, Zebulon grabbed her arm. She recoiled as if shocked, yanking her arm away and taking a step back to put distance between them.

Seeing her stark reaction, Zebulon's face clouded with a look of hurt.

"Wait, don't you know what we're doing today?"
