And yet, Naomi's heart began to race as if he'd just said the most charming thing in the world.
Lennon... was he really this thoughtful?
"Why?"
Naomi lowered her head.
Growing up, she had always had plenty of material things.
But she had never had someone who did something for her with the simple, genuine intention of making her happy.
"Weren't you unhappy because of those forum posts?"
Lennon tilted his head. It was a gesture that should have been cute, but combined with his deadpan expression and tone, it gave him an air of effortless, lethal control.
It was as if he were a king who could topple empires with a casual remark.
Suddenly, Naomi felt a sense of release.
It wasn't a big deal to begin with. Why was she letting it bother her so much?
"I know what to do now."
Naomi had initially planned to ignore the forum drama, feeling it wasn't yet time to completely burn her bridges with Zebulon. So she had endured it all.
But Zebulon's lack of boundaries had led to her being attacked, and Tiffany was using the opportunity to stir up trouble. If she continued to stay silent, she'd become nothing more than a doormat.
So, Naomi gathered the surveillance footage, receipts, and chat logs she had already prepared, organized them by date, logged into the forum with her main account, and posted everything.
To avoid making the situation uglier than it needed to be, she added a single clarifying comment: [It's true that our families are good friends, and it's true I used to have a crush on him. But I gave up on that a long time ago. I've never heard that liking someone is a moral failing. This will be my final post on the matter. I will be deleting my account shortly. I urge everyone to focus on their studies and spend less time on trashy gossip.]
This was, without a doubt, the most assertive Naomi had ever been.
Lennon had offered some ideas as she drafted her explanation. After posting it, she felt as if a heavy weight had been lifted from her chest, and her exhausted body suddenly felt light and free.
