“Even with the ointment, it's going to be swollen tomorrow. You need to be careful, young lady. The skin is very fragile right now, so don't scratch it. If you break the skin, it'll probably leave a scar.”
Naomi was completely bewildered.
Her face turned beet red.
She felt like she was cursed when it came to hospitals.
The last time Lennon brought her to the hospital, there had been a huge misunderstanding too.
This time was even worse. She was too mortified to face anyone!
“I understand, Doctor. Thank you for the advice.”
Naomi was so embarrassed she couldn't even lift her head, and Lennon's response made her want to dig a hole and disappear.
This guy… why did he agree so readily…
Naomi's embarrassment lingered until they had picked up the prescription and were back in the car.
She remained silent, and so did Lennon. It wasn't until he started the car that he asked, “Are you going back to campus or home?”
Naomi could no longer play the ostrich.
“I—I’ll go back to campus.”
Lennon glanced at her, noticing that even her neck was red, and a hint of a smile touched his eyes.
He wanted to say something, but considering her personality, he knew that speaking up now would only make things worse and embarrass her more, so he kept quiet.
The car was silent. As Naomi stewed in her embarrassment, she started to feel drowsy.
She had only meant to close her eyes for a moment to ease the awkwardness, but she ended up actually falling asleep.
Lennon slowed the car.
Just as he was about to pull his gaze away from her, he saw her phone vibrating.
