"As long as you like it!"
"Don't worry, I promise I'll make it up to you this time!"
Zebulon was completely lost in his own world, deaf to whatever Naomi was trying to say.
Naomi sighed internally.
She knew she was no match for him physically. And given his current state, calling the police would only escalate things, and both sets of parents would just blame her for being difficult. So, she relented.
Taking out her phone, she sent a quick message to the studio's group chat, then lowered her gaze, feeling a wave of irritation for the first time.
People really do change.
Naomi finally understood what it felt like to be relentlessly pursued.
She used to think that if she just poured out her heart, Zebulon would come to love her, and they would be happy together. Now that he was the one clinging to her, she finally realized how infuriating it was.
And Zebulon was far worse than she had ever been.
At least she had always respected his preferences, content to just be by his side. But now that he'd had his epiphany, he wanted to drag her into his fantasy of a perfect life.
A shattered mirror can't be made whole again. Naomi knew exactly how she felt, and she wasn't going to change her mind. Zebulon was destined to wait for a day that would never come.
Buzz. Buzz.
Her phone vibrated. Naomi glanced down and saw messages of support from her colleagues in the group chat.
She couldn't help but smile. Just as she was about to reply, the phone was snatched from her hand.
It happened so fast that Naomi had no time to react. The sharp edge of the phone case scraped against the soft flesh of her palm, sending a stinging pain through her hand.
"What are you doing!"
