Naomi shot Patricia an annoyed look.
Seeing her friend’s reaction, Patricia felt a wave of sympathy.
“If I were a guy, I’d treat you like a queen. Your are so wonderful, you deserve the best. Okay, okay, I’m sorry. I promise I won’t contact my brother without your permission again.”
Her apology almost sounded like she was the one getting jealous now.
But Naomi didn't even know her brother; they'd just met. If anyone overheard, they'd think she was incredibly vain.
“If you keep teasing me, I’m going to ignore you!”
That threat was effective. Patricia quickly surrendered. “Alright, alright, my bad, Naomi. I promise I won’t say another word, okay?”
“But since my brother has already met you and agreed to help, why don’t you two just exchange contact info?”
Patricia watched Naomi carefully. She meant well, and if Naomi was truly uncomfortable, she wouldn’t push it.
It was, after all, completely up to her.
Naomi understood that. In the end, she didn't hold it against Patricia, who was just trying to look out for her.
Patricia had seen firsthand how much Zebulon had affected her, so it was natural for her to worry about a repeat and try to create a distraction.
So, she nodded, if only to put Patricia’s mind at ease.
But as she did, an image of another face popped into her head, making her pause.
A thought had crossed her mind when Patricia first suggested the idea.
If she needed another man to distract her, why not Lennon?
Startled by her own thought, she quickly looked down, her gaze faltering, not daring to dwell on what she’d just considered.
But the thought lingered.
Why had she thought of Lennon?
