Zebulon couldn't believe his eyes. He hurried forward a few steps, but the car had already driven away.
“Stop!”
Zebulon scrambled to block the car like a madman, but Tiffany quickly pulled him back, asking with a worried look, “Zebulon, what's wrong?”
All Zebulon could think about was Lennon and Naomi going to a romantic restaurant together.
He viciously shook Tiffany off. “Get away from me!”
He suddenly realized that Tiffany had been giving him terrible advice. Knowing Naomi's personality, it was entirely possible she really had no intention of getting back together with him!
He should have realized it sooner, but Tiffany had been whispering all sorts of nonsense in his ear, so he hadn't thought much of it at the time.
Now, seeing that scene, it dawned on him. Although Naomi had always been the one chasing him, it wasn't like she had to marry him.
The Gonzalez and Hughes families were more or less equals. Whichever side chose to end the alliance wouldn't really lose out.
After all, if the Hughes and Gonzalez families were to unite, the benefits would be greater than the sum of their parts. Otherwise, their parents wouldn't have been so eager to set them up.
But if the Gonzalez family allied with another family, they could achieve a similar result. So if Naomi was insistent, her parents might not necessarily force her to marry him.
Zebulon finally panicked.
Thinking back on Naomi's behavior recently, she might not have been playing hard to get after all.
“Zebulon, what is wrong with you—” Tiffany had no idea why his mood had changed so drastically.
Zebulon's face was grim. “I told you to stay away from me, don't you understand?”
Naomi definitely didn't want to see him with Tiffany. It was Tiffany who had insisted on bullying Naomi that day.
He shouldn't have let her.
Zebulon got into his own car, throwing over his shoulder, “Get home by yourself.”
