Patricia wasn't soft-spoken like Naomi, nor did she have a family legacy to worry about. No matter what these guys tried, they couldn't really hurt her.
“Don’t you dare cross the line, Patricia!”
Colin and the others had their pride, and their faces flushed with anger at her threat.
Patricia wasn't afraid of these spoiled brats. She scoffed, “Me, crossing the line? Is that worse than what you’ve done? Do you have the guts to tell anyone about the messed-up things you did? Do you even know Naomi was hospitalized last time? You call yourselves her best friends, but is that how you treat a friend?”
The group looked uneasy at the mention of the incident.
“That was an accident. Besides, she wouldn’t have gotten hurt if she hadn’t gone after Tiffany.”
Patricia spat on the ground in disgust.
“Do you even hear yourself? Don’t you feel any shame saying that?”
“You claim Naomi is your best friend, but you have no idea what she's really like, do you? If she were even a little bit tougher, the kind of person who bullies others, do you think you’d still be standing here? We would’ve had people beat the crap out of you long ago!”
“Can you get your facts straight? I saw it with my own eyes. If you’re going to defend Naomi, at least come up with a better excuse. Or did you forget that Naomi admitted it herself?”
While Zebulon didn’t genuinely want to defend Tiffany, he hated being accused of wrongdoing.
It was as if people saw him as someone who couldn't tell right from wrong, someone who only ever mistreated Naomi.
Hadn't he been good to Naomi?
He had tolerated her for years and, deep down, had accepted her. Why wasn't that enough for her?
“She admitted it?” Patricia now understood why Naomi had given up so completely this time. It turned out these people had never cared about Naomi’s feelings at all!
Naomi was so badly injured that day, yet instead of rushing her to the hospital, Zebulon and his friends were busy arguing about who was right or wrong.
It was utterly ridiculous.
“Forget it, I’m done talking to you. If any of you had functioning eyes or ears, you wouldn’t have been so blind and deaf for so long. Naomi is cutting ties with you all. Please keep your distance from us.”
“From now on, just pretend you don’t know us when we see each other.”
