Wild Nights With My Brother’s Ex-Best Friend novel Chapter 116

NICOLE

I walk into Richard’s and immediately set out to find Sandra, who’s in her office waiting for me.

When I enter, she looks at me with a look of clear surprise and admits, “I didn’t think you were going to show up.”

“Why?”

Sandra doesn’t answer me. I don’t bother asking the question again.

“VIl walk you to your room, and your client will arrive shortly,” she informs me professionally, like she doesn’t know that I’m here to meet my biological father and not a client. She looks at my outfit and says, “There’s a new attire for you in the suite’s closet. I recommend you out it on. Our client has very…particular tastes.”

1 act like I didn’t hear her because I definitely won’t throw on a slutty outfit for this meeting. What impression would I even be giving?

The suite is luxurious, with a massive bed in the sleeping area and comfortable, expensive looking sofas in the Living area with stylish furniture that looks like it belongs nowhere near a place like Ashvale.

“Have a drink. There’s champagne available over there,” Sandra suggests before giving me another long look. Ihave the feeling she wants to tell me something, but she changes her mind and heads toward the door instead.

I could pour myself some champagne to calm down, but I’d rather not. As i walk around to manage my nervousness, I think about Mason who’s waiting downstairs in case I take too long or something happens. I didn’t want to involve him but there’s no way he would’ve stayed at the hotel when I’m here.

My palms are sweaty and 1 rub them against the side of my dress. I’m fairly confident about all this, but no amount of confidence prepares me for how quickly my heart drops when the door behind me opens and a tall man—a very tall man-strides into the suite wearing a designer suit, with his white hair cut elegantly.

He’s wearing sunglasses, so I can’t see his eyes. But as he approaches me, I feel a choking anxiety. He pauses as he takes in my appearance, his gaze lingering on my dress for too long.

I should say something, dammit. Why did my vocal cords choose this moment to freeze?

‘Your dress,” he begins in a deep voice. “Take it off.”

“I’m not here to sleep with you,”I say quickly, horrified by his statement. Then again, what did I expect? “I’m here because twenty-five years ago, you had relations with a woman named Jessica Monroe and-”

“You’re wasting your time, sweetheart,” he proclaims. “Idon’t remember any of the women’s names? Where are you going with this?”

“She fell pregnant with me,” I conclude.

The Bruiser stares at me for a long, long time behind his dark, expensive sunglasses. Then, he takes them out and puts them in the front pocket of his blazer. His eyes… they’re the same color as mine. Same shape and everything. I swallow the knot of nervousness forming in my throat as I keep staring back at him.

I can’t see the striking resemblance apart from the eyes because he’s older now. Maybe when he was younger…we might’ve looked more alike. I don’t know.

Was his hair as blonde as mine is? It’s white now.

“What is it that you want from me?” he questions, pulling me out of my thoughts. “Money? Recognition?”
