Starla emerged from the doctor's office, her expression cold and resolute. Garret and Herbert's bodyguards were waiting for her outside.

Garret helped her into the wheelchair as she sent him a file from her phone—an audio recording.

He glanced at it. "Did the doctor confess everything?"

"Yes, she admitted it all."

It was incredible the lengths Brinley and Harriet would go to just to harm her.

"Should we initiate legal proceedings against her now?" Garret asked.

Starla shook her head. "No. Letting her go to jail so easily would be too merciful. We'll deal with that when I return to Yoran Country."

In the meantime, she wanted Harriet to experience the helpless, crushing feeling of falling from a great height. As for Brinley, she had always leaned on her powerful mother. They both loved to throw their weight around and bully others with their power. Now, they would learn what it felt like to be completely powerless.

"I understand," Garret said, grasping her intent.

As he wheeled her towards the parking garage, they entered an elevator and came face to face with Xenia, a large bandage covering one side of her face. The moment she saw Starla, her eyes blazed with a murderous hatred.

"Are you satisfied now that you've done this to me?" Xenia hissed through clenched teeth.

"You're mistaken," Starla replied calmly. "I wasn't the one who hit you."

Xenia was so incensed she couldn't speak. Glancing at the Yoran Country man and the two bodyguards protecting Starla, she knew they were Herbert's men. Her eyes narrowed.

"You'd better stay away from Herbert!" she warned.

Her mother was already arranging for Tess to approach the Farley family to set up a match. If all went well, she and Herbert would be engaged soon. She wanted to make it clear that Starla should not get involved with him.

Starla heard the warning in her voice and smiled knowingly. "And in what capacity are you giving me this warning? As Mrs. Farley?"

Starla knew exactly what Xenia was thinking. Even before Herbert had returned to the country, Darleen had been eagerly awaiting his arrival.
