Fairfax shoved Starla into the car. She fought him the entire way, scratching, hitting, and landing several more slaps. His neck was already bleeding from her nails.

"Let me out!" she demanded, finding the doors locked. She turned to glare at him, her eyes filled with hate. The shameless bastard!

He grabbed a handful of her hair, yanking her head back so she was forced to look at him.

"Let go!" she struggled.

With his other hand, he touched the scratches on his neck, then looked at the faint smear of blood on his fingertips. "Starla, didn't you used to love me? Hmm?"

The word "love" only fueled her struggle. "Let go!"

"What were you thinking when you fed me that broth?" he pressed, his voice dangerously low. "Tell me. Were you thinking that if I died, there would be nothing standing between you and Herbert? Is that it?"

At the mention of Herbert, she slapped him again. This time, he caught her wrist, his grip so tight she thought her bones would break. His constant accusations involving Herbert made her breath come in ragged gasps.

"What was I supposed to be thinking?" she spat back. "Your grandmother poisoned that broth for me! What's wrong with me feeding it to her grandson? Or should I have just drunk it myself? Should I have let her poison me to make your whole family happy? In your dreams! From now on, you either divorce me, or anything your family does to me, I will do right back to them. Let's see who ends up suffering in the end!"

She answered quickly. "Fairfax? You rascal, you finally remembered your grandmother?"

Fairfax had been so consumed with his war with Starla that he hadn't spoken to her in some time, not even when he was reclaiming the assets he'd given to Starla but put in her name. Her tone was clearly laced with displeasure.

Fairfax's eyes narrowed as he glanced at Starla. "Tiberius, your attendant," he said into the phone, his voice flat. "I've had him dealt with."

"What? What do you mean you've dealt with Tiberius?"
