A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 197

“You vicious woman! He has always been good to you, always protected you! How could you do this to him?”

Within the Yelchin family, Fairfax was Starla’s staunchest defender, a fact that only deepened their resentment of her. Now, hearing that she had personally fed him poison, Annika’s fury exploded.

“Faraday is already gone,” she shrieked. “Now there’s only Fairfax left! Are you trying to end the Yelchin family line?”

“No, the person trying to end your family line is Brinley,” Starla replied coolly. “She caused the loss of my two children, and now her own son is clinging to life. If she hadn’t harmed my children, I might have given the Yelchin family a healthy heir by now.”

Her words were a masterclass in psychological warfare. On the other end of the line, Annika was so choked with rage that she couldn’t speak.

Not wanting to waste any more words, Starla hung up.

At the hospital, Darleen was still oblivious to the fact that Starla had never set foot in a jail cell. She was holding Brinley’s hand, offering comfort. “Don’t worry, the baby will be fine.”

“Mom, why is this happening to my baby? I was so careful with my diet throughout the entire pregnancy,” Brinley sobbed, clutching Darleen’s hand.

Darleen’s expression faltered. Seeing Brinley’s tear-streaked face, her heart softened.

But before she could speak, Brinley continued, “You always told Starla to be careful when preparing things for me. I followed all your instructions, eating everything you recommended.”

Darleen had wanted Starla gone for good, and now, believing she had harmed her grandson, her resolve hardened. That little bitch wasn’t coming out alive.

Brinley’s eyes widened slightly. “What do you mean, Mom? Fairfax didn’t get her out last night?”

“No. This time, even Fairfax wants her to learn her lesson.”

Hearing that, a wave of relief and joy washed over Brinley.

Darleen continued, “And since she’s going to be taught a lesson, we’ll make sure it’s a good one. Xenia has already made the arrangements.”
