A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 236

“Faraday, how could you do this to me?” Brinley cried.

Fairfax’s eyes narrowed.

Faced with his icy demeanor, she lowered her gaze. “My baby… my baby,” she whispered, her voice filled with grief.

Darleen also turned to Fairfax. “When will the child be found? When are you bringing her back?”

The combination of Darleen’s sharp questions and Brinley’s desperate cries grated on Fairfax’s nerves, and his breathing grew heavy.

“If I can’t get my baby back, I don’t want to live anymore!” Brinley wailed, and the threat made Fairfax’s expression turn colder still.

Darleen adopted the same tone. “Fine, then we’ll all die. I’ll go with you.”

Brinley was acting, but Darleen was serious. If the baby wasn’t found, she truly felt she couldn’t go on living. She felt she had failed her deceased son, and the recent turmoil had worn her down completely.

“Enough!”

Fairfax’s voice was like a whip crack, his face dark with anger. He’d had enough of it all—Starla raising hell and setting fires, Brinley threatening suicide, and now Darleen joining the chorus. On top of that, the Yelchin Group was facing one problem after another. His world felt like it was being torn apart.

In no mood to offer comfort, Fairfax spun on his heel and strode out of the room.

“Where are you going now?” Darleen demanded, incensed by his attitude. The hospital was in chaos, and he was still thinking about that woman, Starla?

“To find the child,” Fairfax shot back. “Or should I just wait in the hospital for her to come back on her own?”

Hearing he was looking for the child, Darleen grew even more furious. “What’s there to look for? Starla obviously took her! Make her bring the baby back!”

...

In the underground parking garage, Fairfax sat in his car, smoking one cigarette after another. Gabriel could feel the icy rage emanating from him.

“Sir, the situation at the company is not looking good,” Gabriel said hesitantly.

“Hoggart Group again?”

“Yes.”

First, they had snatched the Palatial project, and now this. It seemed they were deliberately targeting Yelchin Group projects.

Hoggart Group… Farley Group… Thinking of the connection between the two, the fury radiating from Fairfax intensified.
