A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 302

Previously, Tanya would have been worried if Starla harbored such thoughts. But now, with the entire Hoggart family behind her, Tanya fully supported her plan to tear the Yelchin family apart.

After all, hadn't Darleen and Brinley been hoping for her to divorce Fairfax? Well, they weren't going to get their wish.

As for Fairfax, he was probably thrilled to hear the divorce was off. He would soon learn that a Starla who wasn't leaving was far more dangerous than one who was.

"So, what's your next move?" Tanya asked.

"I'm moving back to the Yelchin estate, of course," Starla declared.

The Yelchin estate was the family's pride and joy, a place where every resident exuded a powerful sense of superiority. It was high time someone shattered the rigid, self-important lifestyle of the Yelchin family.

"Yes, move back!" Tanya said through gritted teeth. "And take your own people with you."

When Garret learned of Starla's plan, he handpicked several staff members brought over from Yoran Country to accompany her. All of them were highly skilled in combat, their primary duty to see to Starla's needs and protection.

The Yelchins thought the little trouble Starla had caused before was unbearable? They had no idea. The real chaos was about to begin!

In the following days, Starla focused on eating and resting, determined to regain her strength. Yardley had Garret hire a top nutritionist who designed a diet tailored to her body's needs. The improvement was visible; color returned to her cheeks and strength to her limbs.

On the third day, the day of the auction, Herbert was already waiting for her when she came downstairs. He wore a tailored suit with a black trench coat over it, a refined look that was sharpened by the piercing gaze behind his gold-rimmed glasses.

In the car, Herbert broke the silence. "You could still turn the Yelchin family upside down even after a divorce, you know."

They hadn't seen each other for a few days, but he was fully aware of everything that had happened. Yardley had called him, worried about Starla's state of mind. He had tried to investigate what the old woman had said to her but had come up empty.

His tone was neutral, but it was clear he wanted her to proceed with the divorce.

"I'm going to make sure that not a single member of that family knows a moment of peace, day or night!"

The last few words were laced with a venomous hatred.

"Why?" Herbert asked softly.

"Because they killed my mother."

Given everything he had done for her recently and his changed attitude toward Fairfax, Starla decided to trust him with the truth. And she also knew how close he was to Yardley.

"Please, don't tell my brother about this yet," she added.

Herbert's expression shifted, a flicker of shock in his deep-set eyes. The concern he'd felt about her calling off the divorce vanished instantly, replaced by a grim understanding.
