A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 391

It wasn't just Darleen and the others; after Starla's latest stunt, even Fairfax was reaching his breaking point.

He pulled out his phone and called Caden Larson. Unlike Darleen and Xenia's fair-weather friends, Fairfax's circle was loyal. He knew that whether it was Caden or Darian, they would come if he called.

The phone rang twice before Caden picked up. "Fairfax."

"I need you to... actually, forget it. Just come here tomorrow morning. Early."

"What for?"

"That thing we talked about before," Fairfax said, pinching the bridge of his nose where a headache was forming.

Starla and Caden had always gotten along well over the years. While his other friends might not be suitable intermediaries, he hoped she would at least listen to Caden.

When Caden heard it was about "that thing" and that he needed to come to the Yelchin estate, he immediately understood what Fairfax meant. He swallowed hard. "You mean... persuading Starla to agree to a divorce? I don't know, man..."

"Yes. Her attitude has become a serious problem," Fairfax cut in before Caden could finish.

"But she's not going to listen to me."

"Just try," Fairfax insisted. He was at the end of his rope. He had never wanted a divorce so badly in his life. No matter how much Starla had pushed for it before, he had refused. But if this continued, she would wear them all down to the bone. His current desperation for a divorce was even more intense than hers had ever been.
