A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 409

Starla took a sip of water from the glass in front of her. "You showed me that photo. Did you really expect me to keep hiding it? You've always been smart, and your curiosity is insatiable. If I hadn't told you, it would have driven you crazy."

“I think I'd prefer being driven crazy,” Caden thought. But he didn't dare to say it.

"Does Herbert know about you and Yardley?" he asked.

Starla shot him a look. "Still asking?"

"Nope! Not asking!" Caden immediately surrendered. "I'm not curious, not one bit. I don't want to know a thing."

Good heavens, if he kept pushing, his family's business would be next on the chopping block.

Caden had felt for Starla and never intended to genuinely persuade her today. But now, if he angered her, he'd be caught in the crossfire. You have to pick your battles, and if the person trying to break up a fight is going to get punched too, it's best to stay far away.

"If you're not curious anymore, then you should get back to work. Your father seems quite eager to retire these days."

"You really do know everything," Caden muttered.

How could the entire Yelchin family have been so foolish as to bully a woman like this? She was not someone to be trifled with. She could be incredibly gentle, but once you crossed her, all pleasantries vanished.

Caden quickly made his exit. After he left, Starla set down her glass.

Garret stepped forward respectfully. "What did Mr. Larson say?"
