A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 430

“I truly regret marrying you!” Fairfax bit out.

Starla paused, a small, humorless smile touching her lips. Finally, he’d said it.

For the past two days, the regret of marrying her had gnawed at Fairfax constantly. If only he had listened to his family back then, the Yelchins wouldn't be in this mess.

“It’s only been a few days and you already regret it?” she scoffed. “I’ve been living with that same regret for nearly a year.”

Ever since Faraday Yelchin’s death, she had regretted marrying Fairfax every single day. And now, after this short time, he dared to stand here and say the same to her.

“What do you want?” he demanded.

“What do I want? Haven’t you been watching? I want every last one of you in the Yelchin family to suffer.”

Did he really need to ask? Her actions had been perfectly clear.

“Let me tell you something,” Fairfax said, his voice low. “The Yelchin Group’s problems are likely unsolvable. If this continues, it won’t do either of us any good. If you walk away now, you can still take the five billion. Wait any longer, and you won’t get a single cent.”

He thought of how he was now barred from even entering Yoran Country, and how the Hoggart Group was acting as if they intended to completely level his company. He had a premonition that they wouldn't stop until the Yelchin Group was destroyed.

For the first time, the man who had always been in control of everything felt a profound lack of certainty.

“Oh, is that so?” Starla replied coolly.

“Do you really want to take the entire Yelchin Group?” he pressed.

“You forgot about the family manor,” she said, her eyes glinting.
