A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 440

Fairfax’s temple throbbed with anger, but he was completely powerless against her. As he was about to head upstairs, his phone rang. It was Gabriel, calling to say he was waiting outside and that Fairfax was needed at the office immediately.

Just hearing the word ‘office’ now filled Fairfax with a sense of dread. Since taking over the Yelchin Group, he had never faced a situation like this, never encountered a problem he couldn't solve. Until now.

Reaching the estate gates, he saw Starla’s car pulling away, which only fueled his rage. He took out his phone and called Caden.

The phone rang a few times before Caden answered. “Fairfax.”

“I need you to pick me up.”

This was maddening. The walk out to the main road would take forty minutes at a brisk pace, over an hour if he walked slowly. His entire morning would be wasted just on walking.

Whose brilliant idea was it to torment them with such childish yet infuriating methods?

Caden paused for a second. “Huh? Did Starla burn your cars too?”

Fairfax clenched his jaw. “My cars can’t get back to the estate!”

Now it was Caden’s turn to be silent. He had to admit, Starla’s methods, while seemingly petty and not overtly cruel, were incredibly effective at driving people insane. If the Yelchins had to go out several times a day, they’d be exhausted. Their legs would give out.

“Alright, I’m on my way. Wait for me,” Caden said. They had been friends for years, and despite their recent disagreements, he couldn’t refuse.

Fairfax hung up and started walking toward the main road. Caden would be there in twenty minutes at most. But after walking for about fifteen minutes, his phone rang again. It was Caden.

“Fairfax, I can’t get in either!”

Fairfax stopped in his tracks.
