A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 456

Fairfax was clearly displeased. Brinley’s use of the name 'Faraday' felt like a constant, unwelcome reminder of his obligations. His older brother was dead, and as the children's uncle, he was expected to be responsible for them. He was even supposed to take extra care of Brinley, his sister-in-law.

His direct question made Brinley’s breath catch. "I'm sorry, I…"

She trailed off, but her silence conveyed a profound sense of grievance and helplessness.

Fairfax's tone grew even colder. "Just tell me what you want."

He had lost patience with everyone in the family, and given the circumstances, who could blame him? The person causing the torment was Starla. But when a man is at his wit's end, his frustration extends to everyone. That was Fairfax now.

"Justin Gass has to come to Marina City immediately," Brinley said, her voice strained. "The hospital called. The baby's condition isn't good."

Her voice choked with emotion as she spoke. She was terrified of something happening to her child.

Fairfax had also received a call from the hospital, which only fueled his agitation. He had sent people to find Justin, but so far, they had come up with nothing. He didn't tell Brinley the truth.

"I'll figure something out," he said noncommittally.

"You have to save him. I've already lost one child…" Brinley broke down, sobbing. The memory of her poor daughter was a genuine source of pain for her. "And her killer still hasn't been brought to justice!"
