"You need to tell the Yelchins," Felix instructed. "Right now, our son is legally Faraday Yelchin's."

Brinley fumed. Tell the Yelchins? She had just told Darleen, and what was her attitude? When the family was thriving, Darleen had treated her wonderfully. But now that things were falling apart, it was painfully clear where her priorities lay: her daughter came before her grandson.

"Alright, darling, focus on finding a way to get our son treated," Felix’s voice softened slightly. "We can't let anything happen to him, understand?"

"Hello?" he answered professionally.

"Why isn't Fairfax answering his phone?"

Gabriel froze. ‘Fairfax.’ Ever since Faraday’s death, Brinley had never once called him by his real name. It was always "Faraday," both in person and on the phone. But now she was asking for Fairfax. Did that mean she knew all along? Had she never truly mistaken him?

Gabriel took a deep breath. "He broke his phone. The new one hasn't arrived yet."
