A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 458

The hospital called again, with more bad news about the baby. The doctor's words on the phone left Brinley feeling breathless. She felt like she was being pushed to the edge.

Felix couldn't get involved with the child's care. As for Brinley, the child was her own flesh and blood, and she desperately wanted to help. But she couldn't. The entire Yelchin family was powerless, too.

Finally, she took Sally's advice. She would surrender to Starla.

She knelt at Starla’s door. The maids standing guard exchanged a look, and one of them discreetly sent a text to Garret.

Soon, Garret came upstairs. He arrived to see Brinley on her knees, her voice pleading. "You know the pain of losing a child. Can't you have some pity for a mother like me? Yes, I've done terrible things, but I am a mother. Can you really bear to watch a mother feel so helpless for her child?"

According to Felix's plan, the child was crucial. So, no matter what, nothing could happen to him now. Brinley was begging for a chance to be by her child's side. She didn't care about Starla’s lockdown on the rest of the Yelchins; she just wanted a special exception for herself. An exception for a mother.

Garret's eyes narrowed as he sent a message to Starla.

The soundproofing in the house was excellent, so Starla hadn't clearly heard Brinley's shouting outside. It was only when she saw the video Garret sent that a scornful smile touched her lips. She rose, walked to the door, and pulled it open, revealing Brinley kneeling in the hallway.

Seeing Starla finally emerge, Brinley felt a small measure of relief. "I'm begging you."

"Begging me? It looks more like you're trying to guilt-trip me," Starla said, her voice dripping with disdain. She had seen the video Garret sent. Brinley's words were laughable.
