A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 459

Brinley took several deep breaths, but she couldn't calm the turmoil in her chest. She felt that Starla might know something, but she wasn't sure. So she didn't dare speak rashly.

"The floor is cold. You should get up," Starla said casually. "After all, medical resources are quite limited at the Yelchin estate these days."

Her dismissive tone felt like a slap in the face. A wave of humiliation washed over Brinley, so intense she wanted to rip apart Starla's condescending facade.

But she had already knelt. It would be a total loss if she couldn't achieve her goal. Suppressing the suffocation in her chest, Brinley pressed her forehead to the floor.

"I want to go to the hospital to see my son. Please!"

The position wasn't just a show of sincerity; it was a way to hide the fury and shame burning in her eyes.

At her words, Starla laughed mockingly. "You say that as if I'm the one stopping you. Go ahead. Visit your child whenever you like."

The residents of the Yelchin estate were free to come and go. As long as they had the energy, they could walk as far as they wanted.

Starla's deliberate taunt made Brinley feel like she was choking. "But no cars can get in, and the cars here can't leave without your permission. I have no way to get there."

Brinley felt utterly humiliated, but she continued to play the part of the weak, helpless woman.

Her act only made Starla scoff. "No way? Don't you have two legs?"

Did she think she was a man, so easily swayed by such a pathetic performance? That trick might work on men, but to another woman, her pitiful tone was just nauseating.

"I had a difficult postpartum recovery. I'm very weak right now. Please, try to understand," Brinley pleaded.
