A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 467

Even though the Yelchin family was a shadow of its former self, and Brinley hadn't been too worried about them discovering her connection to Felix, she had known Felix for years and was well aware of his temper. If she jeopardized his plan now, she knew she would face his wrath.

“What do I do? Why is Fairfax's car here? Was I followed?”

Her thoughts descended into chaos. Her hand shaking, she pulled out her phone and quickly called Felix, who was inside the restaurant getting her food.

He answered impatiently. "What is it now?"

He'd never done something like this before, and this woman was incredibly high-maintenance. If it weren't for all the work she'd done for him over the years, he wouldn't be putting up with this!

"Fairfax's car is parked less than a hundred feet behind us," Brinley whispered, her voice strained.

"What? What are you talking about?"

Not only was Brinley's voice trembling, but Felix's was shaking as well.

"I don't know if I was followed, but don't come out of the restaurant!" Brinley said, feeling breathless. She couldn't let Fairfax see her with Felix, and especially not getting out of his car.

"Don't come out? Then what am I supposed to do? Why is his car behind mine?"

"I don't know! I don't know anything right now!" Brinley was on the verge of hysteria.

Felix felt a cold sweat break out across his skin. His father had warned him explicitly: until the plan succeeded, no one from the Yelchin family could find out about his connection to Brinley. If his father learned he had picked her up at the Yelchin estate tonight, he would be skinned alive.

"So what do we do?" Felix demanded, his voice sharp with panic.
