A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 475

As Fairfax walked directly toward the car, Brinley gripped Sally’s hand in a panic. "What do I do? He's coming this way. He must know I'm in here, right?"

"Stay calm. Just wait a little longer," Sally whispered, though she was starting to panic herself.

In her experience, it was always best to hold your ground until the last possible moment. The consequences of exposing her relationship with Felix to the Yelchin family were too great. They couldn't reveal themselves until there was no other choice.

"He knows, he definitely knows..."

"Miss, you need to calm down!" Sally insisted, seeing Brinley trembling uncontrollably.

But Brinley couldn't calm down. She was terrified. With every step Fairfax took, the knot of fear in her stomach tightened. He stopped right in front of the car.

Though Brinley knew the tinted windows hid her from view, her breath caught in her throat as she met his gaze. She squeezed Sally's hand harder. Even Sally felt a cold sweat break out on her back under the intensity of Fairfax's icy stare.

Fairfax stood before them, his black trench coat whipping in the frigid wind. The chill emanating from him was colder than the frost in the air.

The last shred of hope in Brinley and Sally’s hearts shattered. Brinley shot a suffocated glance at Sally, whose face was now as white as a sheet. Their eyes met, and beads of sweat rolled down their foreheads despite the winter chill.

"Do you need me to use a more... special method to invite you out?" he asked, his tone dangerously low.

The cold threat in his voice was more than Brinley could bear. Her heart pounded in her chest, but under his menacing presence, she reached out a trembling hand and opened the door.

"Fair-Fairfax—"
