"I'll just answer it for you, then?"
The man on the bed remained motionless, giving no reaction.
Fearing the caller would hang up, Yvonne quickly swiped to answer.
"Who is it?" Yvonne asked in a husky, sleepy voice, holding the phone to her ear as if she'd just been woken up.
Janina paused for a second, instantly recognizing Yvonne's voice.
It was Monday. She had woken up early, gotten dressed, and was on her way to city hall.
Before leaving, she had called Julius to remind him not to forget their appointment.
She had suspected he would be with Yvonne. It all clicked—he had dumped her on Mourning Lane just to be with Yvonne.
Son of a bitch.
That bastard and his whore!
Her hatred for the two of them intensified.
Her voice was cold and devoid of any warmth. "I need to speak with Julius. Put him on the phone."
There was no way Yvonne was going to let Julius take the call.
This was the perfect opportunity to needle Janina, to make the bitch realize that in Julius's heart, there was only room for Yvonne Moore.
Janina was nothing more than a tool to relieve his loneliness.
Yvonne let out a soft, delicate laugh. "Miss Holt, I'm so sorry. Julius had a very long night. He's resting right now."
Yvonne punctuated her words with a theatrical yawn, as if she were exhausted, and continued.
"I'm so tired, too. My whole body is sore. He was so... fierce last night. He's completely worn out and probably can't take your call. How about I have him call you back when he wakes up?"
Disgusting!
Yvonne was flaunting her supposed night of passion with Julius.
How shameless. As if that was something to brag about!
