Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 69

Cedric sighed. "Well, at least we've found our real daughter now. You should find that mystic again and have him do another reading. If he knew Janina shouldn't have our name, he must have known she wasn't our daughter all along."

"Don't worry, dear. Let's bring our daughter home first. I don't even know how she's been living all this time. It breaks my heart to think I've been raising someone else's child for all these years," Genevieve's tearful voice carried through the door.

"Mom, what are you crying for? You should be happy! My real sister is finally coming home," Marcus, the eldest son, chimed in.

The second son, Victor, added, "I always knew Janina didn't look like any of us. Look at her, that miserable face. That imposter has been living as a Gable heiress for so many years. It makes me sick thinking about my real sister suffering with the Holt family."

At that moment, Janina stepped into the living room.

She said nothing, simply staring at Genevieve and the others.

They all froze, not expecting her to arrive so quickly.

They had no idea how much of their conversation she had overheard.

After a brief, stunned silence, Genevieve regained her composure and looked at Janina.

She launched into a prepared, half-true version of the baby-swap story.

Janina just listened and said calmly, "I get it."

Genevieve planned to bring her biological daughter home the very next day.

Originally, she had wanted to squeeze some more value out of Janina before making the switch.

But she had learned that her real daughter was living a hard life with the Holt family, which forced her to act sooner.

...

The next day, The Gables were up early.

Marcus and Victor had even gone out that morning to buy expensive gifts for their real sister.

Janina went along with their arrangements.

She couldn't wait to be free of the Gable family.

She knew exactly how her adoptive family felt about her.

Brought back to the family at fourteen, not a single one of them had ever liked her.

Leaving was a relief, an escape.
