Ethan glanced over at Jordan and Natalie. At the same time, Natalie looked his way, their eyes meeting for just a moment before she turned away. She slipped her arm tighter around Jordan’s and laughed at something one of the executives said.
A wave of jealousy rolled over Ethan. Back when Jordan hadn’t confessed to Natalie yet, the three of them would show up at events together. He and Jordan would stick close to Natalie, always looking out for her. All the other heiresses in Cabinda envied her. She had not just one, but two of the city’s most eligible bachelors always by her side, treating her like she was the center of their world.
Everything changed after Jordan confessed and Natalie said yes. Ethan had to step back. Now, both he and Jordan had wives. Even if Isabella was just part of his strategy, on paper she was his wife, and to everyone else, he was already her husband.
“Natalie has Jordan to look after her now,” Ethan said quietly. “But we need to play our parts. We’ve only been married a month. If we’re always off doing our own thing, people are going to notice. The tabloids will be all over it, saying our marriage is already falling apart.”
Isabella just looked at him, her face unreadable.
“Whatever. Do what you want,” she finally said, and headed toward Barbara and Linda.
