Ethan’s brow tightened for a second as he looked at Barbara. “Barbara, Isabella said she likes talking with you, so I’ll leave her here for now. You two can chat.” He paused and added, “I’ll come back to pick her up in a bit.”
He’d followed them over mostly because he was worried Harold might show up. The last thing he wanted was Isabella having to deal with Harold.
Barbara grinned. “Relax, Mr. Adams. No one’s going to eat your wife.”
Ethan shot another glance at Linda. She rolled her eyes at him. “What are you looking at me for, Ethan? I’m not the type to take out my frustrations on your family. Any problems I have are with you, not them.”
“That’s good. Whatever it is, bring it to me. Just leave my wife alone.”
Linda huffed. “Don’t assume I’m as petty as you. Now get lost before you ruin my mood.”
Ethan held back a retort, gave Isabella a few last reminders, and finally left.
As soon as he was gone, Barbara turned to Isabella with a laugh. “You two ought to be in movies, the way you act.”
Isabella smiled. “Funny you say that. I’m actually about to start filming a drama. Interested in investing?”
