“Jordan, I can’t believe the way I was treated. No one’s ever spoken to me like that before. I’m so angry I could scream.”
“Don’t let it get to you. Seriously, she’s not worth it. Don’t make yourself upset over someone like her.”
Jordan tried everything to calm her down, nervous that she’d actually make herself sick from how upset she was. She was pregnant with his child, after all. He just hoped the baby would be healthy, maybe even a boy. If it was a boy, his dad would finally have a grandson and the Lane family would have an heir.
But the more he tried to comfort her, the worse Natalie seemed to feel. Her eyes were red, tears glimmering, and she clutched her belly with a soft moan. That scared Jordan enough to make him want to rush her straight to the hospital.
“I don’t want to go to the hospital. Really, I’m fine. I’m just upset because of Isabella. Let me lie down here on the sofa for a bit and I’ll be okay.”
Natalie didn’t want to see a doctor. If she went, Jordan would find out something was wrong with the baby and maybe even that they’d have to end the pregnancy.
So Jordan just helped her stretch out on the sofa and gently rubbed her stomach, speaking softly. “Natalie, please, try to relax. Don’t let her get to you like this. I’ll make sure Isabella pays for what she said to you, I promise.”
“Jordan, just let it go. I’ll be fine after a little while. Don’t go after Isabella. She’s Mrs. Adams now, Ethan’s wife. We should give Ethan some respect.”
“Don’t make a scene over a few words. Think about Ethan, he’d be caught right in the middle. It wouldn’t be fair to him.”
