Ethan switched his phone to his other hand and picked up his half-finished coffee, sneaking in a couple of quick sips.
He was drowning in work, so busy he barely had time to breathe, let alone enjoy his coffee.
He only answered because it was Jordan calling. If it had been anyone else, he probably would have let it ring.
He couldn't help worrying that something might have happened to Natalie.
“Ethan, I know this is a big ask, but I need a favor.”
“Come on, we’re brothers. If there’s anything I can do for you, just tell me.”
Jordan hesitated for a second before speaking. “Natalie hasn’t had much of an appetite these past couple of days.”
“What’s going on? Is your chef slacking off?”
“I heard that when women get pregnant, their tastes totally change. Stuff they used to love suddenly grosses them out, and sometimes they get these crazy cravings. If they can’t have what they want, they get really upset, sometimes even cry about it.”
Jordan let out a sigh. “That’s exactly what’s happening. Natalie used to love our chef’s food. Now that she’s pregnant, she can’t even look at it.”
“She just told me she’s dying for Isabella’s BBQ ribs tonight—the sweet and tangy ones. She says nobody makes them like Isabella.”
“Ethan, do you think you could ask Isabella to come by this afternoon to make some ribs for Natalie? I’d owe you one.”
Ethan didn’t agree right away, which was rare for him.
He rubbed his forehead and said, “Isabella’s been crazy busy lately. Her new web series just started shooting, so she’s with the crew from morning till night. I’m not even kidding, we haven’t seen each other in a week.”
“I can’t promise she’ll be able to come and cook for Natalie.”
“But I’ll call her and see what I can do. I’ll try to convince her to make time for it.”
