Ethan didn’t buy a single word of what Harold and Barbara were saying. Still, he kept his mouth shut. Barbara was Isabella’s partner now. The two of them got along so well, always chatting and working together.

“Isabella’s in her office. Come on, I’ll take you to see her,” Ethan said, slipping right into the role of Isabella’s unofficial assistant as he led Harold and Barbara down the hallway.

When Isabella saw Ethan come back, she looked ready to give him a piece of her mind. But then she spotted Harold and Barbara behind him and bit back whatever she was about to say.

“Barbara, you’re here at the perfect time. Take a look at this new script with me. There are a few episodes that just don’t feel right, but I can’t figure out how to fix them. I’ve talked to the screenwriter, and they’ve already revised it a few times, but it’s still off.”

Isabella waved Barbara over, and the two women sat close together, flipping through the script and talking quietly. Every now and then, Isabella would turn to Harold with an apologetic smile. “Sorry, Harold, I’m totally neglecting you.”

Harold just smiled back, warm and easy. “It’s fine. I’m really just here to keep Barbara company.”

Isabella shot Ethan a look, a silent reminder. “Didn’t you say you were heading back?”

Ethan shrugged. “No rush. You and Barbara can keep working on the script. I’ll keep Harold entertained.”

Without waiting for an answer, Ethan walked over and nudged Harold to his feet. He was itching to get over to the Lane family’s place, but he couldn’t just leave Harold behind. If he was going, they were both going.

“Ethan, where are you dragging me?” Harold asked, letting himself be led along.

“Let’s hit the supermarket. I want to see if they’ve got any fresh ribs. Need to buy a few pounds.”

Harold looked at him like he was crazy. “At this hour? There’s no way you’ll find fresh ribs. The ones at the store are always frozen. If you wanted fresh, you should’ve gone this morning.”
