After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 298

When Isabella saw the dinner Ethan had made, she glanced over and said, “I thought you were still outside on the phone.”

Ethan gave her a look. “Seriously? You didn’t even notice I’ve been in the kitchen this whole time, cooking for you?”

She just smiled, washed her hands, and started helping him carry the dishes into the dining room. They set the food on the new table they’d just bought.

“I’m going to try your cooking,” Isabella announced.

She reached for a piece of food, but before her fingers could grab it, Ethan cut in, following right behind. “You’re not a kid. Why are you using your hands? Grab some chopsticks.”

He brought out a pot of soup, set it down, then grabbed a pair of chopsticks and picked up some food. He held it out for Isabella.

Without thinking, she opened her mouth and let him feed her.

Ethan watched her closely, waiting. “Well? How is it?”

“I’m not picky. Even if you gave me pig food, I’d eat it,” Isabella said, her tone casual.

Ethan’s face fell. “So you’re saying my food is that bad? Isabella, I’m used to having everything done for me. I almost never cook. The only reason I made this was because you’re my wife.”

“It’s not bad. But if you want me to say it’s amazing, I just can’t,” she replied honestly.

Ethan didn’t say anything. He just turned and walked away, mumbling to himself, “Not even a little bit touched.”

The kitchen was hot, no AC, not even a fan. He’d been sweating in there for ages, and she didn’t even seem to care. She wouldn’t even lie and tell him it tasted good. Not even a single white lie.

That familiar sense of anxiety crept in again. He could feel it—Isabella was really letting go. She was getting further and further away from him.
