Harold grinned. “That’s someone else’s problem. You and Linda have nothing to worry about. Both of you are strong, and your families are even stronger.”
He leaned in a little. “Especially Linda. Who’d even think about messing with her? She’s got more than a dozen brothers, and every single one of them is a star in their own field. And Linda herself is a force. She’s probably the only woman in Cabinda who can do whatever she wants, no questions asked.” Even Barbara had to admit, she didn’t have that kind of freedom.
“Linda’s incredible,” Barbara said, shaking her head. “I don’t care what people say about her, I actually admire her. Too bad I’m not a guy. If I were, she’d totally be my type. Seriously, I don’t get you men. You’ve got this amazing woman right in front of you, and somehow she’s still single.”
She shot Harold a look. “Hey, Harold, what if Ethan and Isabella never split up? If they really stay together and you finally let go, would you ever think about chasing Linda? Our families are on the same level as the Whites, and we have a good reputation. I’m sure her family would welcome a match.”
Harold threw up his hands, laughing. “Barbara, don’t even go there. Linda’s just not my type. And with all those brothers she has? I’d need nerves of steel to even consider marrying her. Even if I could promise to never mess up, couples always have little arguments. If I married Linda and we fought, would I even survive it?”
He gave a little shiver and grinned. “Linda’s great, but honestly, I like my life too much to risk it.”
