“Everyone played house when they were little,” Isabella said with a laugh, brushing off the jokes about Mia and Ethan’s childhood antics.

“Mia?” Sophia looked over, clearly confused. Wasn’t Mia supposed to be here to make things difficult for Isabella?

Mia slipped her a quick pinch, a silent hint to drop the subject.

“Isabella, are you feeling okay?” Mia noticed Isabella seemed tired, and there was the faint scent of medicine in the air. She guessed Isabella had just taken something.

“I drank too much last night,” Isabella admitted, not trying to hide it. “Ethan was worried, so he called the family doctor. I just took some medicine before you got here.” She really didn’t look well.

Mia gave her a knowing smile. “Hangovers are the worst. I guess I picked the wrong day to visit and messed up your rest. You should go lie down. Sophia and I will get out of your hair. Next time you’re feeling better, I’ll take you out to dinner.”

“You just got back from abroad, Ms. Clark,” Isabella said politely. “Ethan and I should be the ones treating you. Let me check with him and see when he’s free, then we’ll take you out for a proper welcome dinner.”
