After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World novel Chapter 1656

Chapter 1656: New Prisoners

An elementalist needed to concentrate a certain amount of aether in their bodies to be able to combine and summon an element to do their bidding. For skilled elementalists, even a second was sufficient to ’start the engine’, as Alterrans would call it.

It was just that every time Wazan attempted to do so, he’d be beaten up badly, and at a speed that was difficult for even him to follow.

If it were just someone of the same level, he would’ve had those few seconds to breathe, but the current enemies wouldn’t even allow him to blink!

This went on for hours—the most torturous hours of their lives—stopping at some point in a clearing.

They were in pain, dizzy, and humiliated.

"We should be near now," one of the hooded people said. It was a female, which made them feel even dizzier and more disgusted.

"Yeah, stop here. We can’t be seen dragging big men through the gates," another voice said. This time, it was an older one. "It is unbecoming."

Wazan and the others were all thrown in together, unable to sit up properly. If there was someone who had gathered himself, a strong leg would kick them down—strong enough to create cracks in the soil below him, so no one dared make much movement.

Wazan was the first to be able to lift his head. By this time, the hoods were off, and his eyes widened. The others might not recognize them, but he—the best travelled and aware of them—could recognize one or two people.

They had already dyed their hair, but he could remember that face. Oslo. Of the Gold family. Then he looked at the rest of them. He had heard they had gone missing, with rumors of them being seen here and there, sometimes in completely different regions.

Are they working with Alterra now? A Level 1 Town?

His head was ringing, and he could only listen to them talk to each other.

"Can we just kill them?" one asked.

"We’re asked not to kill everyone, especially the leader."

They could not kill him because it’d alert Valov, and they were probably the only ones they were investigating.

According to Jonathan, they had also sent a few letters of reports during their stay, so Valov would definitely determine it was they who did this if they killed him prematurely.

At least until the seeds they planted matured enough, they could not die yet.

"The guard team would want to torture them for more information."

"Ah, I got it."

"Also, aren’t we feeding them some things? Grandmaster wants us to find experimental subjects."

"Were those rumors true after all?" Olga asked, referring to the rumor that the old man kidnapped people to experiment on.

"I don’t think so? I hadn’t heard that from a credible source. It’s more likely someone who hates him is framing him. There are plenty of people who hate him.

"Hehe I think he was actually influenced by Medussa and the rest of them instead."

"Well, let’s just get them to quiet down for now while we transport them in. Let’s use what was handed to us to see how it goes."

"Roger!"

The next thing they knew, a few were force-fed different potions. They couldn’t do anything.

Gurgle, gurgle

Gurgle, gurgle

Next was Wazan, Erggo, and a few others’ turns. "They only gave us a few vials of this," Oslo said, showing off the black, murky-looking, potion they could see through the translucent glass bottle. "Be honored, you get the first taste."

Wazan and the rest tried to run, but their appendages were broken already. Wazan wanted to explode his element while they seemed distracted with the potion, but the Waning Pearl was placed in his mouth instead.

His eyes constricted, feeling the power draining off of him.

The Waning Pearl only weakened, not blocked, the aether around, but because he had been abused so much, it pretty much had that effect.

The Pearl’s effect was in an area, and it wasn’t that the Golds weren’t affected because they were.

However, their level differences were so vast that if aether was removed in the equation, it all went to physicality (not to mention many of the Golds were also elementalists), so Wazan just became more helpless.

Then they felt the effect of the poisons. If the other poison made the others feel like burning, this one made them feel like they were melting.

"This one has faster effects. Considering the ones who took it are stronger, then we can surmise that it’d work extra well on the weaker ones."

"This is so good. I wonder if I can buy one. I’d love to drown Bleumrick in it."

"I’ll buy some with you, Father," another voice. "Even if he doesn’t die, he’d suffer for certain."

While the Valov attackers were in deep agony, their attackers were discussing all these with a lackadaisical tone.

The Valov could only curse in their minds because they could barely gather the energy to breathe!

These bastards!!
