Alpha Damon (Sienna) novel Chapter 211

Sienna:

There was something eerie about silence, something oppressive when it came after days of noise, war, heartbreak, and whispered truths.

It was one of those days when everything just seemed to be against the current. Though if anyone saw it from outside it would seem to look normal and calm. No one would predict or suspect that anything was going on.

Never did I think that I was going to find myself questioning my presence within the office. I wanted to work to sustain myself and my daughter. I wanted to be able to have something for myself and for her. But I did not expect myself to stand wondering who would stab me in the back next, who would look me in the eye and who would walk through the door for this

war.

I stood behind my desk, staring out at the estate below. People moved about as usual, warriors training, staff tending to the gardens, a delivery van pulling up to the side of the main building. Life went on. But my chest felt like it was being gripped from the inside, like something was coming and I just couldn’t see it yet.

And maybe that was the worst part, not knowing.

I had just set down a file when I heard a soft knock.

Not Ethan’s usual rhythm. Not Carter’s heavy knock.

This was… careful. Calculated.

“Come in,” I said, already tensing. My wolf stirred and I frowned as I stared at the door, watching as it opened.

The man who walked in was unfamiliar in the sense that I didn’t know him, and yet… something about him struck a chord. Tall, sharply built, with piercing gray eyes that could cut right through armor. There was something ancient about him. Something regal. And dangerous. “Need I help you?”

“I believe that you should know who I am. Considering that there has been ongoing commotion about you and I always did come with my alpha.” He said, and I frowned. “Nikolai. Alpha Giovanni’s…”

“Beta.” I said, stopping him. I clenched my fists and he studied my expression.

He gave me a faint smile. “I see my reputation precedes me. But I aim you no harm.”

“I’m not interested in family reunions.” I said, my voice coming out more threatening than I thought it would. “I believe that whatever it is that you want to say…”

“I’m not here for that.” He paused, crossing the room slowly, stopping me from completing my sentence. “I came because I was curious. About the woman who’s shaking everything, Giovanni, Damon… even me.”

I kept my voice steady. “If you’re here to deliver a threat…”

“I’m not.” He stopped a few feet away. “But I am here to give you a truth. The truth that you should know and consider. You should have known it a long time ago, but no one bothered telling you about it.”

I folded my arms. “Then say it.”

He looked at me for a long moment, as if measuring how much truth I could handle. “Giovanni isn’t just playing to win. He’s playing to destroy. You, Damon, the pack, everyone who carries your mother’s name in their blood or their heart. He’ll burn the world to see you suffer. And he’s going to do it in cold blood. He’s not going to care.”
