Alpha Damon (Sienna) novel Chapter 259

Ethan:

“Well, you look like hell.” Carter said once he saw me walking out of my room.

“And you are not going to speak to me unless you want to lose your head. Trust me, I’m not in the mood today. And the last thing that you want is to find yourself on the opposite side of my anger, especially after the game that you played last night.” I said, and he raised an eyebrow.

“I did not play anything. All I did was speak to you or speak sense to you. It was you who was gloating about the fact that you suddenly wanted to play her because you pitied her. If she heard you, then it is her right to know the truth. You do not want anything to do with her. You’re just distracting yourself. Because that’s who you are, you know that. And you are choosing to play the wrong person. You are choosing to play the wrong woman. A woman that you do not even know. And mind you, the woman is our Luna’s sister. Regardless of what you might want to say. I’m not even going to mention the fact that you had feelings for her sister. If you’re distracting yourself this way, then you are doing a very wrong thing to both yourself and to her.” He said, and I let out a little growl.

“You can growl all you want. It does not change the reality of how things are. You are not the type to give in to a woman, nor are you the type to think about one for far too long. If that was the case, then you wouldn’t have suddenly forgotten about Sienna. Oh, mind you, in your mind it was nothing more than a fling or an emotion that you felt. It went away, didn’t it?” He said, snapping at me.

I wrapped my hand around his neck, pinning him against the wall. He raised an eyebrow at me before letting out a warning growl as he pushed me away from him.

“You can take your anger on me all you want, it does not change the truth.” He said. And I punched him in the face.

“You interfere in my own life again, and I’m going to show you a sign that you are not going to want to see and wonder you’re not going to like. Because trust me when I say even I have a limit and you have crossed it, Carter.” I said, and he scoffed, shaking his head.

“You are a beta. You are not some kind of low rank wolf. There’s no such thing as your personal life, just as there is no such thing as mine. Everything we do has to be watched and monitored. Why? Because we affect and influence those that are around us.” He said, pushing me back.

“Is that why you’ve chosen not to fall in love with someone? Or is it because Lysandra never chose to give you a chance when she chose Damon and now that she is back, you just know that…?” He punched me in the face before I could say another word. I chuckled and shook my head. “See. It’s not so fun when you’re on the other side of it, is it?”

I stepped back and walked towards the Infirmary where she was staying with her sister, where I heard her going, where I heard her speaking.

I hadn’t slept. That much I could not deny.

Not more than a few minutes at a time.

Every time I closed my eyes, I saw hers, wet with tears, blazing with fury. Her voice still echoed in my skull, each word sharp enough to scar. The way that she looked me in the eye and the way that she spoke, the rage that I know she felt, everything that she was going through at that very moment. It just replayed in my mind.

Go to hell, Ethan. And rot there.

I was still hearing it when I leaned against the corridor wall outside the infirmary wing, arms folded, jaw clenched, trying to pretend I hadn’t been standing there…

Waiting.

For her.

The door creaked open softly.

Delilah stepped out, calm and collected, her expression unreadable.

No trace of the woman who cried last night.

Delilah smiled, genuine, kind, and patted the maid’s arm.

Then continued walking. Still without acknowledging me.

I stood there, frozen, watching the place she used to occupy beside me.

The silence was louder than any slap.

And far more permanent.

She wasn’t just angry.

She had erased me.

And suddenly, I understood something terrifying:

The war we were heading into might not hurt as much as this.
