Alpha Damon (Sienna) novel Chapter 272

“You’re quiet, you haven’t been eating anything, and you’ve been here in this room since what happened.” He murmured, his voice low and steady. “You need to be able to talk to me, baby girl.”

“I don’t know what to say,” I whispered back. “I don’t know what this means. I am scared of what is going to come, and right now, I find myself feeling selfish for how I am feeling. I know that it is stupid, but it just wrong thinking this way with everything that is going on, and yet, here I am.”

He shifted closer, brushing his thumb across my knuckles. “I don’t know how to explain it, Damon. I know that so many people need me. And I know that there is a lot in stake, but I just find myself thinking of everything, and I am scared of how everything is going to go with it.”

“I know.” He said. “But it doesn’t change what’s real. You’re here. I’m here. She’s gone, for now. I know that her presence is what is on your mind. But you can’t keep thinking about it, baby girl.”

I looked up at him, meeting his eyes.

“I’m scared, Damon.” I whispered. “I am scared that all of this is just going to end up backfiring as it keeps taking paths that we don’t even know. Paths that we did not think about crossing. And now, it is just becoming more complicated.”

He didn’t flinch.

He didn’t try to deny it or bury it in reassurance.

He just nodded once.

“Me too.” He whispered to me. “We are all scared of what is going to happen. But it doesn’t mean that it is going to stop. We are going to have to stand through it, baby.”

That’s what made it feel safe.

Not lies. Not empty promises. Just truth. He rested his forehead against mine as he looked me in the eye before leaning in, kissing me softly.

“I looked into her eyes,” I said, my voice thinner now, breaking. “She looked back like she knew me. Like I was already part of whatever plan she has. Like… like she’s been waiting. I don’t know how to explain it. She seemed to be lost for a moment, then she just disappeared. There was nothing about it, she was just gone.”

“You’re not her,” he said against my hair. “You never were. Whatever you saw, and whatever it is that is going on, you are not here to compare yourself. We are going to have to find out what is going on, but it doesn’t mean, not for a second, that you are her or are becoming her,”

I held onto him, digging my fingers into the fabric of his shirt, needing to feel the rise and fall of his chest.

“I don’t want to lose myself,” I whispered. “To all of this, I don’t want to lose something in me that I know is considered pure. I don’t want to end up being caught into something that neither one of us is going to be able to get out of.”

“You won’t,” he said. “I won’t let you. Just as you won’t let me lose my path, I will be there to help you regain your strength for yours.”

He inhaled my scent before tightening his arms around me. “Because I know for fact that I am not the only one that gets his strength from you. The whole pack does, and I don’t think that anyone would be ready to lose their Luna. Not today, and not ever…”
