Alpha Damon (Sienna) novel Chapter 320

“For what?” Damon asked. “I can assume that you would give you a message if there is something that she wants you to do.”

Delilah glanced at me, then back at Ethan. “To see if I’d come to her. To see if I’d listen. And maybe… to make me afraid.” “And did you?” Damon asked. “Are you going to submit to her?”

Delilah’s chin lifted. “No. I would rather I take my last breath before I submit to a person like her. Mind you, I’ve been born to fight and I’ve been raised to stand up for myself. This is something you need to ask others, not me, Damon.”

I let out a breath I didn’t realize I’d been holding. Damon’s hand was still on my back, steady, silent.

“She’s trying to pick us off,” I said. “Not with force. With fear. We are going to need to keep fighting back whatever happens.”

Delilah’s lips twisted. “Then she’s going to have to try a hell of a lot harder.”

Ethan glanced at Damon. “She’s getting desperate. She’s not strong enough to take full form yet. But she’s poking holes. Looking for weaknesses. She’s trying to find those who are frightened. If she manages to do that, then she’s going to be able to control something. Right now, until now, she’s not able to do that and that is angering her.”

“She thinks Delilah is hers,” I said softly.

“She’s wrong,” Delilah said quickly. “She might think it, but it is not true. She wants me scared and she wants me to be sympathizing towards her being my mother. Considering the fact that she knows a weakness that I have towards not being raised by a family, she wants to use that to her advantage, which she does not know is that I am not going to use that as a weakness for myself.”

For a moment I froze, feeling her pain, but I understood that she did not say it out of sympathy. She did not say it because she wanted me to feel sorry for her. Instead, she said it for me to understand what she was feeling.

“She won’t stop,” Damon muttered. Alice He managed to say what I couldn’t, to voice out something that I knew that I was not going to be able to. “Not until she makes someone break. She’s going to keep trying. And you know what?”

There was a moment of silence. Just the four of us, breathing the same air, sharing the same dread.

I looked at Delilah again, this time not as a threat or an unknown.

But as a woman being hunted by the same monster I was trying to destroy.

“It seems to me that she’s not going to stop this, but does not want her to end up harming the pack members anymore than she’s done.”

“Then we’re going to have to stop her one way or the other.”
