Alpha Damon (Sienna) novel Chapter 324

Delilah:

“Again.” My voice cut through the courtyard, sharp and commanding. “Neither one of you is going to stop until we are done. We are going to need to keep going and you are going to need to stand stronger. Our enemies are not going to back out and we are going to need to show them who is in charge. You are going to need to be in charge.”

The three girls in front of me, Aria, Maeve, and Fallon, were panting, sweat slick on their brows, but they didn’t hesitate. They shifted their stance and came at me with everything they had. And they were more than ready to prove a point to me.

Good.

They were learning.

And that was exactly what I wanted.

Because they were not just learning how to fight, they were learning how to survive, how to stand strong, and how to be able to fight back. Even after this war is over. Even after all of this is over.

Aria’s punch was faster than before. I blocked it with my forearm, twisted, and used her own momentum to pin her. Maeve tried to strike from behind, I ducked, swept her legs, then caught Fallon’s wrist before her claws grazed my shoulder.

“You’re thinking too much,” I told her. “Stop trying to protect me and hit like you mean it. I want you to hit me. I don’t care about anything that goes around. I want you to show me what you need to do.”

She flushed. “You’re still healing…”

“I’ve been healing all my life,” I said flatly. “And I’m still standing. So fight me. That is an order. You are going to fight me. Otherwise I’m going to be the one to fight you. And trust me when I say you’re not going to like it.”

Fallon hesitated… then lunged.

This time I let her connect. Not because I couldn’t stop it. Because she needed to feel what it was like to strike and not hold back. She needed to feel what it was to hit and be hit back. She needed to feel what it was not to be dodged with every punch that she made.

I staggered back a step and grinned.

“That’s better.” I said calmly. “I need you to focus on that. This is how you’re going to fight. You are going to have enemies and neither one of them is going to show you any mercy. They’re not going to stop. And you’re going to teach them that you cannot stop either.”

Applause came from behind me. Slow. Lazy. Teasing.

“I should’ve known you’d end up terrifying the entire female population before breakfast,” Ethan’s voice drawled. “I should have also predicted that our men are going to be in more danger than we would like to think about.”

I turned. He was leaning against the wall, arms crossed, wearing that half-smile that made it harder to breathe than any bruised rib.

“I’m training them,” I said, brushing hair off my cheek. “Not terrifying. As for you men, I do not need to frighten you. I do not teach girls to scare you. And As for me, all I need to do is give you one punch and I’m going to teach every other man a lesson. I don’t need to do it through girls.”

“Oh, is that what this is?” He walked toward me. “Because from here, it looks like you’re building your own army. Though I’m not complaining, the stronger they are the better. We are going to need them as warriors.”

I shrugged. “Maybe I am.”
