Alpha Damon (Sienna) novel Chapter 330

Damon:

The mist surged toward us, screaming through the trees like a living thing.

Those nightmares, whatever they were, they were ready, searching at us, attacking us like they were nothing more than ruined dreams, scary items, things that we were supposed to be afraid of. But we all fought them hard. We were not going to back down.

Wolf growled at me attacking. It was my mother, but it was a different version of her, A frightening version. One that I was supposed to be scared of and nightmare that I should have been running away from.

And I roared back. I was not going to run away from a mist because I knew that this was nothing more than an illusion. As long as I believed there was an illusion, it was going to stay so.

My claws tore through the air as I shifted, the sound of bones snapping and fur ripping filling the charged silence of my wolves behind me. The ground cracked under my paws when I landed, low and ready, golden eyes cutting through the fog. My shifting was enough to knock out three of the nightmares that were forming around shifting them to what they really were. But they were quick to start gathering their strength, their wits. Tatiana was playing her cards well.

The first creature hit the line, fast, hulking, all teeth and blackness. But I was faster. I was stronger and I was more than willing to attack all of them because I knew that they felt without purpose. I did.

I slammed into it, claws sinking deep into what passed for its chest, dragging it to the earth and tearing it apart in a shower of shadow and blood.

“Hold the flanks!” I bellowed, my voice carrying through the din of war. “No one breaks the center line, no one! No one stands back, no one steps away.”

The pack roared their answer, a chorus of fury and loyalty as they followed.

I tore through two more of the things, feeling their cold ichor soak into my fur. They didn’t bleed like wolves. They didn’t die like wolves. They just… dissolved, their bodies crumbling into ash and mist as I ripped them apart.

One tried to lunge at Lysandra. I caught it midair, snapping its neck with a single twist before tossing it aside.

She didn’t even look at me as she gutted another. “You’re slowing down, Alpha! I would have thought you would be faster.” I grinned through bared teeth. “You’re welcome!”

I caught sight of Delilah and Ethan holding the left flank, back to back, moving like they’d been training for this their whole lives. Her claws flashed like lightning as one after another fell around her.

But the mist kept coming.

Stronger. Thicker.

And then I felt it.

Her.

The one woman who wanted nothing more than to claim her daughter and turn her into something, A weapon the Geovanni had failed to forge. He had succeeded for a long time, butut once she saw the reality… once she saw the truth… everything was different.

Tatiana’s presence washed over the field like ice water, suffocating and sweet all at once. My hackles rose. My lips curled. “I am surprised by your strength you should have. You should have all stood back. It seems to me that we’re going to need to use a lot more to break you, but Needless to say it’s not going to be as torturing as I would want it to be as you will all be dead.”
