Alpha’s Betrayal Luna’s Revenge (Samantha) novel Chapter 99

Reagan’s POV

It’s been four days since Caspian carried Sam out of the palace gardens. The newly mated couple must be enjoying themselves together. I thought with a smile.

I know I did when I got Ellie home. I made her know exactly what her love and acceptance meant to me. I made her know she was someone special. Not because of what she can do but because of who she is. I wanted to talk to her about our future, but when Sam and Caspian set a date for their ceremony, that took precedence. Then, with what happened at the ceremony, Sam accused him of. Both of our focuses turned to Lincoln.

Ellie wanted to kill Lincoln immediately. “If he is who Sam says he is.

He is a dead man. But I want to be sure first.” I defended Lincoln. I had known Lincoln all my life. Until this moment, I have always respected him; however, if Sam’s claims are correct. He has secrets to hide, and l want him to know all of them. I could use Callan’s aura to break him, but I want him to tell me voluntarily. I want him to know he was beaten, not by my aura but by a man.

In the meantime, I have somewhere to be. “Will you come with me to the Everglades Pack?” I asked Ellie.

“What’s in the Everglades pack?” Ellie asked curiously. That’s when I explained how my mom would take us there annually to see her best friend and her family. It brought me to tears as I told her about Krista and the attack. How our parents fought so we could escape. Then I told her about the ultimate sacrifice Krista made to save Caspian.

“You loved her more than just a friend, didn’t you?” Ellie asked, embracing me. We were just kids, but Ellie was right. I loved Krista; she was the only person I connected with – that was until I met Ellie. I came to realize that as I got older. She was perfect for me. I nodded myhead as I wept. Although I meet Krista’s grandma every year at the park in the Everglades Pack. We have a picnic and remember them all.

“Do you think Krista would have been your mate if the attack hadn’t happened?”

“I don’t want to lie to you. I don’t know; Krista was far too good for me.

But I would have asked.” I told Ellie.

“Thank you for not lying to me,” she said, giving me a small smile. “It will be weird meeting Krista’s family. But as your mate, if it’s that important to you. It’s important to me,” she said, comforting me. It would be weird, but I know Krista’s family, especially her grandma, will be grateful that both Caspian and I have moved on with our lives.

Despite not being related by blood or a bond. They are family, and family wants what’s best for one another.

The following morning, Ellie and I made the six-hour drive to the Everglades Pack. We made good time and were the first ones to arrive.

We climbed out of the car, and I went to the trunk to retrieve the picture I always brought with me.

Ellie had wandered off to the park. I found her walking around as if in a daze. “Are you okay?” I asked her. She looked at me with some confusion.

“I don’t know; I just got a sense of déjà vu. But I don’t know why; I never left South View as a kid, and I certainly haven’t been here as an adult.”

“In the wolf kingdom, there are a lot of parks that look similar. Maybe you remember one of them,” I explained. I watched as she wandered over to the swings. Sitting down, she looked at the ground as if she were trying to remember something.

I went over to the swings, rested the frame against the post, and then gave Ellie a push, which made her laugh. I did this until I heard a car pull up in the car park. “Go. I want to explore a little more,” Ellie encouraged me to leave her.I grabbed the picture and walked toward the woman, who insisted I call her Grandma. “Grandma,” | yelled, rushing toward her. Grandma must be approaching 70 years old, yet she looks years younger. “It’s good to see you, Reagan. But what the hell has happened to your leg?” she asked, scowling.

I bend down and show her my full prosthetic. “It’s a long story,” I say as she grabs my head, tilting it to the side and examining my mark.

Tears rolled down her face. “I think there is more than one long story to hear. I can’t wait to hear them,” she says as she wipes away the tears. “I am so happy for you.” She confessed. As she sniffed. “Will I get to meet her?” Grandma asked.

“Your family, Grandma. Of course, you get to meet my mate. Her name is Ellie. She’ll be here in a minute.” I felt obliged to inform Grandma that Ellie was a lone wolf. “Ellie grew up alone in the human world. She is amazing, but her knowledge of the wolf kingdom is limited. She may not understand a few things you say.”

Grandma smiled at me and took the picture from my hand. “Every day since the attack, I prayed to the goddess to bring Krista home safe. I had always hoped that she would just turn up, and you could be together.” She said, stroking the picture she held in her hands. Her tears landed on the frame.

I felt like I was betraying Ellie when I wished that had happened too.

But Krista had been gone for decades, and I had moved on. “I am glad you found someone. I hope she makes you happy,” Grandma told me.

“She does, Grandma. I think you will like her; she reminds me of Krista.

Stubborn, strong-willed, and won’t take any crap from anyone, not even from me. Oh, and she is immune to the Alpha Command.”

“She sounds like Krista,” she said, smiling but with tears still rolling down her face.

“Reagan,” Ellie called out my name.”Over here,” I yelled back.

Within seconds, Ellie appeared from behind a tree. As she walked toward us, Grandma sobbed. She leaned against me for support.

Maybe it was too much bringing Ellie to meet Grandma. “It’s okay, Grandma, that’s my mate Ellie,” I told her.
